At some point, you'll probably experience a cavity. We want to help you avoid the pain and sensitivity caused by cavities, so we generally recommend six-month checkups and following through with your treatment plan. Dr. Erlick and Dr. Bellamy can restore tooth decay with composite resin or amalgam fillings. It is important to know that a cavity cannot get better on its own. You must seek professional dental care to avoid further damage to your oral health. In fact, left untreated, tooth decay will likely spread to the internal nerve of a tooth, which may cause pain and infection creating the need for a root canal.
Composite fillings made are tinted to match the shade of your tooth enamel, so your restored tooth will look white and natural after the filling is placed. Some patients prefer amalgam fillings, and we place both types right here in our office. Dr. Erlick or Dr. Bellamy will consult with you and consider your unique situation to recommend the appropriate restoration material.
